In most cases, yes.

If you're between the ages of 18 and 65 and are actively contributing to your KiwiSaver fund, then your employer is required to contribute 3%. This number will always be a little lower than your KiwiSaver contributions, since they pay tax (specifically, Employer Superannuation Contribution Tax) before it hits your account.

The exceptions to this rule are:

  1. If you're on a savings holiday

  2. Your employer is contributing to another approved superannuation scheme for you
